Andrea's practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, and investigations.

Andrea defends businesses, company employees, and witnesses in government investigations and white collar criminal cases, including in False Claims Act (“FCA”), environmental, securities, health care, and government contracting matters.  Andrea also handles complex civil matters for both plaintiffs and defendants, including employment disputes and cases involving allegations of fraud, Consumer Protection Act (“CPA”) violations, breach of contract, securities violations, and business torts.  In addition to her litigation practice, Andrea regularly conducts corporate internal investigations to assist businesses in responding to government enforcement actions and employment-related claims.

Andrea’s recent matters include representation of:

  • King County Department of Public Defense against employment discrimination claim.  Plaintiff’s lawsuit was dismissed after first week of trial.
  • Local municipality regarding propriety of conditions imposed on business licenses.  Conditions significantly upheld after lengthy administrative hearing.
  • Alaska Native Corporation (“ANC”) in suit against former business partners who engaged in elaborate scheme to cheat ANC, and in related FCA matter.
  • Toxicology laboratory in parallel federal civil and criminal health care fraud investigations involving allegations of Anti-Kickback violations.
  • National online travel agency in CPA investigation.
  • Individuals in insider trading investigations by SEC.
  • Health care executive in parallel federal civil and criminal investigations regarding allegations of Medicare overbilling.  
  • Local non-profit against high-profile negligence claim related to shooting death of resident.  Plaintiff’s case against client was dismissed on motion to dismiss.
  • CEO of national real estate syndication firm in civil and criminal litigation arising from the company’s sale of $4 billion in commercial real estate through private placement and other investment offerings.
     

Andrea is a founding member of Calfo Eakes & Ostrovsky.  Before starting private practice, Andrea clerked for the Honorable Marsha J. Pechman on the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and Justice Robert L. Eastaugh on the Alaska Supreme Court.

Andrea has been named a "Super Lawyer" by Washington Law and Politics every year since 2013.  In 2016, Andrea was named to Benchmark Litigation's "Under 40 Hot List," an exclusive list compiled through a process of peer review and case examination that honors the nation's "most accomplished legal partners of the age 40 or younger." 

Andrea is a member of the William L. Dwyer Inn of Court.  Andrea also serves on the board of Forterra, a regional non-profit committed to securing keystone places essential to our region’s long-term sustainability.  Andrea is also co-founder and co-chair of the Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountainview, a volunteer community group dedicated to restoring park lands in South Seattle.  In 2013, Andrea received a Denny Award for Conservation and Environmental Stewardship.
